Apple isn't being completely altruistic, as the move is part of a settlement with the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTP), applying to apps that 'do not offer in-app digital goods and services for purchase'.

Unlike the Apple solution, which is just a simple in-app link to the service providers website, cutting Apple out of the process, Google will still get a cut even if a customer opts to user an alternative billing system.

Authorities have said a main line of the police investigation into the disappearances has pointed to an international network that pays poor fishermen to fish illegally in the Javari Valley reserve, which is Brazil's second-largest indigenous territory.

However, Apple will still take a cut of any money made from sales within the app - so if Netflix offers a way to subscribe in-app, they will pay Apple a cut, but this will offer an alternative, Amazon that includes access to existing payment details.

By 7pm, three delivery service partners said an Amazon app used to communicate with delivery drivers is down, leaving vans that were supposed to deliver packages sitting idle with no communication from the company, according to Bloomberg.

"Increased activity and abundance of lianas can have profound impacts on the structure and function of tropical rainforests, which in turn affects the animals that depend on them," Professor Laurance says.

After the election was canceled shortly before the vote was due to take place amid disputes over the rules, the parliament moved to seize control of the political process and replace Dbeibah's government.

Lawmakers' declaration of Fathi Bashagha as prime minister after a televised vote aggravates a power struggle with the interim administration of Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah, who was installed through a U.N.-backed process last year.

With Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) that backs the parliament in control of most major oil facilities, it also raises the prospect of another blockade of the country's 1.3-million-barrels-per-day crude exports.

He says the study underlines the need for urgent climate action but also limiting rainforest disturbance, Books something lianas thrive on because its easier for them to reach the upper canopy where they reproduce.

Phillips, mariette.co.kr a 57-year-old freelance reporter, was doing research for a book on the trip with the 41-year-old Pereira, a former head of isolated and recently contacted tribes at federal indigenous affairs agency Funai.

Dbeibah has promised elections in June while the parliament has set a roadmap targeting a referendum on a temporary constitution followed by a national vote next year, but analysts say it is hard to envisage either event taking place.

BENGHAZI, Libya, March 1 (Reuters) - Libya's parliament approved a new government on Tuesday despite the incumbent administration vowing not to cede power, pushing a fragile peace process to the brink of collapse and raising the risk of new fighting or territorial partition.

The United Nations and foreign powers that recognized Dbeibah's government when it was installed a year ago have avoided any definitive statement on which administration should now be seen as legitimate, and have instead pushed for quick elections.

The United Nations backed a ceasefire and peace process after an eastern offensive against Tripoli collapsed in 2020, with most sides in Libya publicly supporting Dbeibah's interim unity government and scheduling elections for December 2021.

Any move by Bashagha to establish a government in Tripoli could well trigger armed resistance by forces linked to Dbeibah, pointing to a return to Libya's division between rival administrations based in different cities.

Whether the political crisis will kindle armed conflict remains unclear, but it leaves Libya without a unified government, with the main political and military forces bitterly divided and with no clear path forward.

Shock at their fate has echoed across Brazil and around the world, highlighting the overhaul of indigenous agency Funai under President Jair Bolsonaro, along with a rising tide of violence and criminal incursions on native lands.

"The most likely option is a return to two governments, neither of which will have all that much legitimacy, but only one of which will control the central bank," said Tarek Megerisi of the European Council on Foreign Relations.

A team of Brazilian police divers recovered the speedboat that was used by British journalist Dom Phillips and Brazilian indigenous expert Bruno Pereira to travel Brazil's Amazon before they were killed.

The Civil Police said the suspects placed sink sandbags before sinking the speedboat 65 feet deep under and 98 feet to the right of the Itacoai River shore in the Amazon rainforest near the northern town of Cachoeira.

Amarildo ‘Pelado' Oliveira, 41, who had been under arrest on a firearm ammunition possession charge since June 7 and was held in temporary custody as part of the investigation, confessed to shooting Phillips and Pereria last Wednesday.
