Pornhub's stats also logged a rise in searches for WWE, Fortnite and Marvel. Pornhub's fortunes tend to rise and fall with major internet events. There's more to this than just social media-deprived internet users randomly watching porn videos on one of the internet's most popular porn sites. We also tested the assumption that viewers prefer increasingly hard-core pornography by analyzing 269 videos uploaded to PornHub over the past decade. In our newly published study that examined a large representative sample of highly watched pornographic videos from a leading online streaming website, we found no evidence for the claim that pornography has become more violent over the last decade. Most of the videos we analyzed were frequently watched, but we also analyzed a smaller random sample of less frequently watched videos so that we could compare the highly popular videos versus the less popular ones.
