Satta Matka gambling or satta is a type of betting and lottery which originally concerned betting on the DPMATKA opening and shutting rates of cotton transmitted from the new York Cotton Trade to the Bombay Cotton Exchange. It originates from earlier than the era of Indian independence when it was often known as Ankada Jugar ("figures gambling"). Within the 1960s, the system was changed with different ways of generating random numbers, together with pulling slips from a large earthenware pot known as a matka, or dealing with enjoying cards. Matka gambling is prohibited in India.
