Sherman County (English Sherman County) is located in the United States, Texas, in the frontier zone of the Texas Bulge. It was officially formed in 1876 and named after Sidney Sherman, a military leader during the Texas Revolution. As of 2000, the population was 3,186 people. The district center is the city of Stratford.

According to the 2000 census, 3186 residents lived in the okrug, comprising 1124 households and 865 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. There were 1275 residential buildings, with a coverage density of 1 building per 1 square kilometer. The racial makeup of the population was 82.49% White, 0.53% Black or African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.03% Asian, 14.63% other races, and 1.66% from two or more races. … 27.43% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

Of 1124 households, 40.7% raised children under the age of 18, 68% of married couples lived together, in 6% of families women lived without husbands, 23% had no families. At the time of the census, 21.5% of the total number lived independently, 10% of people over 65 lived alone. On average, there were 2.76 people per household, and the average family size was 3.24 people.
