The study included 116 adults who had lost at least 30 pounds in the past. Participants were split into four groups, one of which was told to exercise regularly at a particular time every day (say, at 5 p.m.). For the first two months of the study, the exercise time wasn’t confirmed, but it was during the last two months of the study.

The participants all received the same exercise and dietary guidance during that time. But, according to the researchers, the group that exercised at the same time each day lost about 3 more pounds than those who started at 5 p.m. and then switched to another time.
