The Galahad Acoustic Quintet is a subset of the progressive rock band Galahad (making the title of the album a nice pun). The group on this disc seems to present a few different sides. From the opening piece, "Sir Galahad (Scene One)," the band presents the texture of an olde worlde group using modern instruments -- sort of a progressive rock take on minstrel music. The lyrics to that one, as well as the second part that closes the disc, are from Tennyson. There is one track that feels at times a bit like a Celtic take on Genesis. However, the overall feel is of a release by former Marillion vocalist Fish. For that reason, fans of that artist will probably enjoy this album. It does, however, lack the evocative, emotional power of Fish, but The Galahad Acoustic Quintet makes up for that by creating thoughtful music that is somewhat neo-classical in texture.
