Guitarist MARCEL COENEN was born in the Netherlands in 1972 and first picked up a guitar at the age of 10.At 15 he joined the band SANCTUS SPIRITUS but soon moved on to the speed metal band SPEEDICA,playing a style of music he was uncomfortable and unfamiliar with but a style he soon came to love.
In 1994 Marcel started the band AURA,who played covers of FATES WARNING,RUSH,DREAM THEATER and QUEENSRYCHE tunes.After writing their own material and making a demo tape in 1995 which caught the attention of the US record label Magna Carta the band changed it's name to LEMUR VOICE.After the dissolution of LEMUR VOICE Marcel joined the progressive metal band SUN CAGED,a band he plays in to this day.
In 1998 Marcel released a demo tape, called "Guitartalk", with four songs that he had recorded himself, at his own house, using a 4 track recorder. One year later a cd with the same title was released by Coenen, this time containing 9 tracks. And now this independent release has now become an official release, as Lion Music was interested in re-releasing it.The remastered version of "Guitartalk" was re-released in 2003 with 12 tracks total and brand new artwork.Featuring an impressive array of guest musicians from bands such as SUN CAGED,TIME MACHINE and CLOUDSCAPE(among many others),Marcel's second solo cd , titled "Colour Journey" was released in 2006.
Marcel continues to record with SUN CAGED and also does quite a bit of session work for artists such as HUBI MEISEL,BOB KATSIONIS and MISTHERIA to name but a few.
