We're down in the forge and Gendry is smithing the life out of that Dragonglass. She meets up with Gendry and, after getting a thorough review of his sexual history (safe sex, kids!) she reveals she'd like to forge his steel. The popular kids are sitting fireside trading stories and watching Tormund talk about the time he was breastfed by a giantess for three months (weird flex but OK). So they decide to use Bran as bait to lure the dead, figuring that it'll keep him and his weird crow chat out of their faces for a bit either way. Bran reveals that while he was in tree college he got a sweet tattoo and turns out it attracts the Night King. If you didn't watch last week's episode or you plain can't remember it (I know, it's been a tough week), you may want to check out everything that happened in the season 8 premiere (TL;DR it was Westeros reunion soup and Bran was a super creeper).





The season 8 premiere brought everyone back to Winterfell, but episode 2 set the stakes. The episode opened where the premiere left off: Jaime is in Winterfell and everyone kinda remembers him as a jerk. So Winterfell has time to kill. It's time for more D&Ms than a grade school slumber party! Martin was just starting to become a household name back in 2012. I was attending a private party held by Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady at Comic-Con that year and was delighted to learn Martin would be there. That would be like seeing your kid sister getting drunk at a college party. Now, sound the spoiler horn and get comfortable, because just like Daenerys' pervy pet dragon, we've got some watching to do! Meanwhile, around Winterfell we've still got a lot of battle prep going on. Winterfell needs weapons, and thankfully Gendry's got two guns ready for the job. Despite all these long brooding chats, the White Walkers are still taking their sweet-ass time to get to Winterfell. The battle with the White Walkers is close, but still hasn't begun.



The day is about to dawn, but we're still in blackest night. The ceremonies took place on different days during the convention but still managed to surprise Wiedlin and Ventimiglia, who were both gobsmacked. In one of my favorite memories, I sat next to America's Next Top Model winner and avid cosplayer Adrianne Curry, who was dressed as Leeloo from the movie The Fifth Element. At Comic-Con, it's fun to see A-list actors freak out over the latest Star Wars Lego set, or get tongue-tied around their favorite comic book artist. Over the years at Comic-Con, I helped the official Star Wars Stormtrooper cosplayer group the 501st Legion with a few honorary inductions for celebrities. In 2012, women at Comic-Con were routinely accused of being "Fake Geek Girls" and, in response, Comic-Con featured quite a few panels focusing on female fandom to remind the guys we weren't going anywhere. Back then, geek girls were treated like a novelty instead of the norm. It's a huge honor for any Star Wars fan, and the celebrity in question is always delightfully shocked by the impromptu ceremony. In another classic "oh, I've done some growing up of my own" move, Arya throws Dragonglass knives at a post and Gendry is here for it. Arya gets nude, but thankfully we don't see too much. After a brief chat with the Hound, Arya remembers this could be her last night on Westeros. The Night King has apparently only just gotten into his Uber and is still, like, at least a few hours away. I was honored to be on a few of these panels alongside female actors, writers, directors, comic book creators and celebs. While not everyone can be honored by Stormtroopers, it's a fun reminder that even the celebs you admire the most love geeky movies or TV shows as much as you do.
