The Journal of Obesity published the findings, the first of their kind to examine data on the topic. The study had 220 overweight and reduslim ingredientes obese participants who exercised for 30 minutes and were randomized to a time of day or a random time. They found that participants who exercised at the same time every day, six days a week, lost twice as much weight as those who exercised at different times.

"This is the first time you’ve ever seen an association between time of day and weight loss, and it just makes sense: You’re trying to adhere to a behavior change, so why wouldn’t it make sense to structure your day around that behavior?" asks lead researcher Dr. Brad Schoenfeld, a researcher at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora.

Experts say that, as a general rule, people tend to exercise more regularly when they exercise during the same time of day.

"One of the big issues with the obesity epidemic is that many people don’t exercise regularly," says Dr. Nicole Avena, a pediatric dietitian at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University. "If you do exercise in the morning, you’re more likely to be consistent in terms of getting yourself to your exercise regime."

That being said, there are some exceptions, like if you’re a night owl or if you happen to have a penchant for late-night exercise.


The amount of time and repetitions you perform will also vary based on the type of exercise you’re doing. But, per the Journal of Obesity study, 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise at a vigorous pace appears to be the key.

How to Lose Weight Easily



One of the best ways to lose weight, of course, is to eat less and exercise more, yet most of us know that getting that habit ingrained can be a struggle.

But if you stick with it, weight loss does get easier.

"It’s a gradual thing," Dr. Avena says. "The more you do it, the easier it gets. It’s just a matter of repetition, but you do have to have a healthy lifestyle."
