Nancy White at her finest. A warm, funny, tuneful album made by and for parents. Nancy strays further away from her roots in political satire, and delivers this genuinely funny CD that, although a somewhat cynical portrayal of parenthood, manages to keep the listener smiling throughout. As with earlier releases, Nancy provides some commentary for each song, which sheds some light on her personal life and her strong views on parenthood. It also provides the listener with some very funny reading. There are several highlights, and in fact there really are only a couple of weak moments; a sheer delight is the hilarious "Suzie Money Gone Away," awhich manages to make light of the 1987 stock market crash; "Daughters of Feminists," a wonderfully funny song about the struggles of a feminist mother; and the showstopper, "Leonard Cohen's Never Gonna Bring My Groceries In," which both pokes fun at Cohen and delivers a bittersweet farewell to unfulfilled dreams. The music on this CD is diverse and interesting, featuring both folk and pop music. Nancy dipped into her past with this CD, as it features "Memo to Droola," aoriginally found on her 1987 release Unimpeachable. Overall, the music is well-played and well-produced. This CD stands up to repeated listenings, and is an ideal gift for any tired parent. This CD also serves as an excellent introduction to this artist's fine music.
