I completely ignored the necessity of a diaper wipe warmer when I was putting together my registry for baby. I'm a new mother and didn't think that it's going to matter much if diaper wipes are warm or not but I quickly realized that I was wrong. My baby daughter was screaming every time we used a cold wipe during changing her diaper. It disrupted her sleep even and we'd stay up all night needing to comfort her back to sleep.
By using the warmer I don't have to worry about my newborn crying during transition from shock cleaning her up with a cold washcloth. The fact that it warms from the top prevents the rest of the wipes from drying out.
