The gardens are enclosed by tall wire security fences. Its front garden is enclosed with a short wire fence and is dominated by a big spreading Poinciana tree. A brief verandah with vertical timber louvres is situated on the bottom flooring of the jap elevation. Female Wards 1&2 (1866) is a big, two-storeyed timber and masonry constructing located on a ridge between Ellerton Drive and the Brisbane River. Lewis House is situated between Kelsey House and McDonnell House and is a substantial two-storeyed rendered masonry constructing with a terracotta-tiled roof. It is also two-storeyed and constructed of masonry but is more rectangular in plan with three short wings projecting on the western elevation. The four wings of every constructing comprise dormitories and single rooms. The eastern half of every building is an elongated U-shape in plan, with two substantial rear wings working at proper angles to the U. The jap elevations have ground floor kafanchan verandahs which have sheet steel limitations erected along the roofs to forestall patients from climbing onto them. A wide timber verandah with a skillion roof runs the size of the north elevation at each levels and returns around at both the japanese and western ends of the building.


Bostock House (1885) is situated to the north of Anderson House and can also be orientated to face Ellerton Drive, although it is ready again within in depth lawns. The Female Area comprises Female Wards 1&2, Anderson House, Bostock House, Dawson House and a former female bathroom. A small timber residence is located to the south of Anderson House. A small Shelter Shed (1929) is situated to the south of Female Wards 1&2 and was used to separate troublesome patients from the principle wards. The formal parterre to the south of the house is one of the biggest in Europe at four acres (16,000 m2). In December the house and 163 acres within the fences was leased to John Hosking for three years, a lease agreement requiring him to keep "the park, gardens, orangeries, vineyard and buildings, fencing, hedges, ditches, gates, bridges, stiles, rails, poles, posts and drains in good and sufficient order". On his death in 1827 Thomas Leyland instructed that his property should go to the lawful male heirs of his nephews Richard and Christopher Bullin, and, failing that, to the male heirs of his niece Dorothy, namely Thomas, John and Richard Christopher Naylor. x_y d_ng Nguy_n_.

It's enclosed with timber shutters on the highest storey and has an arched timber valance and timber posts at floor stage. The interior of the constructing is gutted and only the timber floor joists and solid iron columns stay. These have corrugated iron roofs with small roof lanterns and often spaced sash windows. The sandstone part of the building has slim, multi-paned sash home windows and timber doors with fanlights. It has a timber verandah with a skillion roof alongside the entrance elevation and has tall sash home windows all through. A tall timber picket fence encloses the yard adjoining to the shed. Aside from the arithmetic needed when engineering buildings, architects use geometry: to define the spatial type of a constructing; from the Pythagoreans of the sixth century BC onwards, to create types thought-about harmonious, and thus to lay out buildings and their surroundings in accordance with mathematical, aesthetic and sometimes religious principles; to decorate buildings with mathematical objects such as tessellations; and to satisfy environmental objectives, such as to minimise wind speeds around the bases of tall buildings. Each of the buildings has terracotta tiled roofs and huge casement windows which have aluminium security screens fitted on the surface.
