The study focused on 62 people who had participated in a 12-week weight-loss program through a community college in Texas. Most of the participants had lost weight in the initial 12 weeks, then plateaued.

All of the participants were assigned to one of two groups, with one group exercising at lunchtime on Mondays through Fridays and the other group exercising in the afternoon on the other days of the week. Half of the weekly workouts were "uncompromising" — meaning they included a one-to-one strength training component; and half were "compromising" — meaning they did not require any strength training.

One month after the study ended, those who had consistently exercised at noon lost a more significant amount of weight than those who changed up their exercise regimen.
The Deal: This study found that exercising at noon could be especially helpful in maintaining weight loss. It’s possible that exercising at this time could be giving people a fixed schedule, making it easier to stick to. Plus, exercising at this time might reduce "lunchtime bashing," a term used for the tendency to eat more at lunchtime (since the time is often a struggle to resist these mega-meals).

In addition, exercise at this time could avoid skipping lunch entirely, according to the University of Illinois at Chicago. There was also a noticeable difference in the daily mood of participants. Participants who exercised at noon reported higher mood after work than those who exercised in the afternoon.

A study by researchers at the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Indiana University found that exercise could also improve your mood after you eat.
