A major cause of confusion is when a common word is used in a math problem. The same common word has a different meaning in math. For example, the word difference.

Boys or girls, math is important for both. It's just a myth that Boys are better than girls at math. I think this is something that people have always believed in and therefore never guided their daughters towards math. You as a parent has a responsibility that if your child has to succeed in the world tomorrow, you start working on it now.

In other courses, understanding the prior section may not effect the next section. For example, in history if you did not memorize the facts or understand the Revolutionary War, this does not mean you can't understand and pass the quiz on the Civil War. This just does not work in math.

Don't show a student how to solve something. Instead "think aloud". For example, you might have a whiteboard with a problem up, and start by saying, "o.k., I notice that the 4 numbers I am to sum are all in the thousands category, and that the first is near 3,000, the second near 5,000, and the third... I am confused about..." Model exactly what you thinking including confusion, emotions, skills, strategies and more.

Cut out 30 or more small pieces of paper of the same size. Write the number "1" on twenty of the papers and the number "10" on the rest. Or you can print and southeastplace.com cut out these number tiles that I've designed for you by following the link at the end of this article.

Even teachers who hold a math "topics" class only once a month see real benefits, so you don't have to abandon your regular class. And, you'll find that students are more engaged when regular class is held.

Maintain a Good Pace While Solving Math Problems: Maintaining a good pace during exams can help you to finish your test paper on time. If you are stuck with a difficult question then it is best to skip it and proceed to the next question as the skipped question can be attempt later.

You may think that I am being dramatic when it comes to teach baby math skills but it is a proven fact that when children are age 6 and under they are like learning sponges. It seems like they can not help but pick things up, children can learn to speak at least one language, learn their family dynamics and if they had it placed in front of them they could easily learn math as well.

Making math fun is not as hard as you may think, especially not for a baby. When it is time to start math time make sure that you sound excited and that you show baby that it is a good time. When you act like it is fun you are not going to give your baby the wrong impression that math is something difficult to learn. Just a simple attitude change could really make a difference in how your baby learns to do math or how they decide that they do not want to.
