AC power transmitted from the input terminals of the bus and the power input terminals of the breaker box will pass through a single pole piece called terminal clamp. This piece has a DC input resistance which prevents the voltage to rise above the maximum safe limit. There is a secondary winding, which is referred to as a primary bus. The primary bus runs between the two points and produces an alternating current. The secondary bus acts like a continuous movement and hence it is called as a fault circuit.


When the busbar fails to operate due to a tripped breaker or short circuit, the DC current will now be transmitted via the winding in the busbar section contained in busbar transformer. This will generate a magnetic field which will trap any magnetic field from the surrounding areas. This magnetic field will cause damage to the adjacent components connected with busbar section. Hence the busbar section contains a special housing which is made up of ferrous materials like iron, copper or brass and is placed between the busbar and the circuit to prevent any hazardous physical effects.


Busbar transformers are available in different specifications and the one you require depends on your electrical needs. Some busbar transformers are small and are only suitable for office environments. They have flexible busbar sections with replaceable segments which can be added or removed according to the need of the application. They are made up of either steel or aluminum bus bars and they are light in weight. Many manufacturers offer busbar transformers in standard as well as custom combinations and these are capable of supplying alternating current at 1500 wattages and above. You may choose the busbar transformer according to your specific electrical requirement.


Most busbar transformers are provided with an optional terminal kit and a mounting bracket. The busbar section of the busbar transformer is mounted using bus bar clips which are supplied separately.
