Previews Terms of Use.
Welcome! These Previews Terms of Use (" Previews Terms ") apply to your access to and use of certain new features of the Services (the " Features "). These Previews Terms apply in addition to the Reddit User Agreement (the " User Agreement "), which you have already agreed to, and include certain terms that are defined in the User Agreement.
By accessing or using any Features, you: (a) agree to be bound by these Previews Terms; and (b) acknowledge and understand that the Features may be canceled at any time for any or no reason, in our sole discretion, without advance notice or liability to Reddit (subject to applicable law). If you do not agree to these Previews Terms, then you may not access or use the Features.
1. Blockchain Features 1.1 Eligibility.
You may access and use certain Features powered by blockchain technology in accordance with these Previews Terms. You cannot use these Features if you are temporarily or indefinitely suspended from using the Services, are not able to form legally binding contracts (for example, if you are under the minimum age required by the laws of your country of residence to enter into contracts), or are a person with whom transactions are prohibited under economic or trade sanctions. You agree to comply with these Previews Terms and all laws, rules, and regulations applicable to your use of the Features.
1.2 Vault.
(a) Opening Your Vault.
Vault is a digital wallet embedded in the Services that enables you to store certain virtual currencies, tokens, and other items that can be cryptographically verified on a public blockchain (collectively, " Verified Virtual Goods "). There are two main ways to create a Vault on Reddit: (1) if you claim or purchase certain Verified Virtual Goods using the Services, Reddit will automatically create a Vault for your Account to store those Verified Virtual Goods; or (2) you can create a Vault using the Services.
When your Vault is created, you will receive a public address and a private key. The public address is your address on Ethereum-compatible blockchains where the record of your ownership of and rights to the Verified Virtual Goods in your Vault is stored. The private key is the only way to access and use the Verified Virtual Goods in your Vault.
(b) Backing Up Your Vault.
Reddit does not automatically receive or store your private key. The private key is stored on your device, and you are solely responsible for its safekeeping. If you have not safely stored a backup of your private key and you lose your device, then any Verified Virtual Goods in your Vault will become permanently inaccessible.
We strongly advise you take one of the following precautions to prevent losing access to your Verified Virtual Goods: (1) store a secure, encrypted backup of your private key on the Services by creating a unique password for your Vault; and (2) manually protect your Vault by generating a recovery phrase and store that recovery phrase in a safe place, such as a password manager. You are solely responsible for remembering your Vault password and recovery phrase. Reddit cannot assist you with Vault password or recovery phrase retrieval, reset, or recovery.
(c) Reviewing Vault Info.
We have no control over public blockchains and cannot ensure any permitted transfer of Verified Virtual Goods under these Previews Terms or other transaction details you submit via your Vault will be completed. Once transfers or other transaction details have been submitted to the public blockchain via your Vault, we cannot assist you to cancel, reverse, or otherwise modify your transfers or other transaction details. We strongly encourage you to review your transfer information and other transaction details carefully before submitting them.
(d) Losing Vault Access.
Reddit does not have access to your Vault to recover it or the Verified Virtual Goods inside of it. If you are absolutely sure your Vault is not stored on any of your mobile devices and you absolutely cannot remember your Vault password or recovery phrase, there is nothing we can do to unlock your Vault and you will have to create a new Vault.
Your Account can only have one active Vault associated with it. If you create a second Vault on an Account that already has a Vault, then the second Vault will become the Vault associated with that Account. In that instance, the original Vault and any Verified Virtual Goods in it may be unrecoverable if you have not retained your original Vault’s password and recovery phrase.
If your Account is suspended, then you will be unable to access your Vault (including any Verified Virtual Goods in it) until the suspension ends. If your Account is banned, then you may, at Reddit’s discretion, be unable to access your Vault (including any Verified Virtual Goods in it) indefinitely.
1.3 Verified Virtual Goods.
(a) Collectible Avatars.
Collectible Avatars are a type of Verified Virtual Good that you may claim or purchase initially from Reddit. You need a Vault to claim or purchase any Collectible Avatars, and your ownership of Collectible Avatars will be verified through your Vault on the Services.
Each Collectible Avatar has specific artwork associated with it (" Avatar Art "). When you acquire a Collectible Avatar, you become the owner of it. This means you can transfer, sell, or otherwise dispose of your Collectible Avatar. However, this does not mean you own the intellectual property rights in the Avatar Art. The Avatar Art is licensed, not sold. Reddit and our licensors reserve all rights in and to the Avatar Art not expressly provided for in these Previews Terms.
If you own a Collectible Avatar, then, subject to your continued compliance with these Previews Terms, Reddit grants you a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to use, copy, and display the Avatar Art associated with your Collectible Avatar for your own personal, non-commercial use (the " Licensed Rights "). Subject to limitations outside of Reddit’s control (such as changes to the blockchain or in law), for each Collectible Avatar, Reddit will host the Avatar Art associated with it on the InterPlanetary File System through a dedicated gateway or on an alternative service for two years from the date the Collectible Avatar was initially claimed or purchased from Reddit. This two-year period does not restart if the Collectible Avatar is subsequently transferred or purchased.
Collectible Avatars also enable you to unlock additional features on the Services. If you display Avatar Art associated with your Collectible Avatar as your avatar on the Services, your avatar will have special visual effects. In addition, Collectible Avatars enable you to, using Reddit’s avatar builder tool, disassemble the Avatar Art into several components and build your avatar with some or all of those components. These additional features only apply if your Collectible Avatar is in your Vault. If you do not set your Collectible Avatar as your avatar (even if you still own it), then the special visual effects will not be applied. If you sell or transfer your Collectible Avatar, you will no longer have access to these additional features.
You also have a limited right to transfer your Licensed Rights solely in connection with the disposition or sale of your Collectible Avatar in accordance with these Previews Terms. You will lose this transfer right if you breach these Previews Terms or your Licensed Rights are otherwise terminated in accordance with these Previews Terms. Any transferee that receives a Collectible Avatar from you must accept these Previews Terms. You may, in connection with any sale or attempted sale of your Collectible Avatar, display the Avatar Art associated with your Collectible Avatar on third-party platforms or marketplaces, so long as those platforms and marketplaces cryptographically verify your ownership of the Collectible Avatar and honor or provide the means to honor the royalty terms below.
If you purchase a Collectible Avatar from Reddit, then you will pay the list price and will not be charged any fees by Reddit (including any creator or royalty fee), and, similarly, if you claim a Collectible Avatar from Reddit, you will not be charged any fees by Reddit. However, if you subsequently sell your Collectible Avatar, the party purchasing the Collectible Avatar from you must pay Reddit and, as applicable, our licensors a royalty fee equal to 5% of the selling price in that subsequent sales transaction.
Any attempted transfer of your Licensed Rights that do not satisfy these requirements is null and void and constitutes a material breach of these Previews Terms. When you transfer or sell your Collectible Avatar, your license to the Avatar Art terminates, and you must promptly delete any digital or physical copies of the Avatar Art.
If there are third-party intellectual property rights in the Avatar Art associated with your Collectible Avatar (for example, licensed intellectual property rights from a creator or partner) (" 3P Rights "), you understand and agree that: (1) you will not have the right to use any 3P Rights in any way except as incorporated in the Avatar Art and subject to the license and restrictions contained in these Previews Terms; (2) Reddit may need to pass through additional restrictions on your ability to use the Avatar Art depending on the nature of the license granted by the owner of 3P Rights; and (3) if Reddit notifies you that additional restrictions apply to use of the Avatar Art due to 3P Rights, you will comply with those restrictions. If the Avatar Art becomes (or Reddit determines is likely to become) the claim of infringement, Reddit has the right to replace the Avatar Art, procure the right to continue using the Avatar Art, or terminate your Licensed Rights to the Avatar Art.
If you purchase a Collectible Avatar via a third-party payment processor (for example, Apple, Google, Stripe, etc.), then that purchase may be further subject to the legal terms and privacy policies of the applicable payment processor. By completing the purchase through the Services, you authorize us and our payment processors to charge your provided payment method (such as a credit card or debit card) the full amount of the purchase, including any taxes. For purchases via a payment processor, your billing relationship will be directly with the applicable payment processor. Any fees charged for your Collectible Avatar will be billed by the applicable payment processor using the payment method you have provided the payment processor. All purchases are final and non-refundable to the furthest extent permitted by law.
CryptoSnoos are another type of Verified Virtual Good, but are not subject to the same terms and conditions as Collectible Avatars. Your use of CryptoSnoos on the Services is subject to the terms and conditions here.
(b) Community Points.
Community Points are another type of Verified Virtual Good that you may earn through your activities on the Services. You need a Vault to receive Community Points, and your ownership of Community Points will be verified through your Vault on the Services.
Community Points are community governance and reputation points (kind of like karma) that are specific to a subreddit. Each subreddit’s Community Points are customized for and by their community, including some of their features (for example, their name, symbol, and certain distribution rules). You can use your Community Points to vote on community governance decisions, show off your reputation in a community, and purchase Special Memberships (as described below) or subreddit-specific Reddit Coins. Any Reddit Coins purchased with Community Points from a specific subreddit can only be used to give awards in that specific subreddit.
Special Memberships are a subscription membership. When you purchase a Special Membership, your subscription is subject to the Reddit Premium and Virtual Goods Agreement (including renewal and cancellation terms). If you redeem Community Points for a Special Membership subscription, you can manage your subscription in the subreddit’s Special Membership tab. Purchasing a Special Membership or redeeming Community Points for a subreddit’s Special Membership does not provide you with the right to post or comment in that subreddit. Participating subreddits are run by moderators and your ability to post or comment, or the removal of a post or comment, is at the discretion of that subreddit’s moderator(s).
You can also tip or gift Community Points to other community members with Vaults for their contributions to the community. We may impose limits on the amount of Community Points you may tip or gift through the Services (for example, to mitigate violations of these Previews Terms), and you may be prompted to pay blockchain network fees in order to tip or gift them. Reddit does not control blockchain network fees and does not facilitate the payment of blockchain network fees. Any payment of blockchain network fees by you through the Services is processed by third-party payment service providers (each, a " PSP "), and your use of services offered by any PSP may be subject to separate legal terms and privacy policies. Reddit is not a party to your agreements with any PSPs, and PSPs are responsible for compliance with all regulatory requirements in relation to your payment of blockchain network fees. You should carefully read PSP legal terms and privacy policies before using any services offered by them.
1.4 Privacy.
Remember that public blockchains, like the Ethereum blockchain, are public and accessible by anyone. Be mindful of linking your Vault or Verified Virtual Goods to third-party platforms, as third parties may be able to identify you by your activities on those platforms and public blockchains. While Reddit does not display transaction history on the Services, keep in mind that transactions on public blockchains (including purchases, transfers, and sales of Verified Virtual Goods) are also public and accessible to anyone.
1.5 Your Acknowledgements.
As stated in Reddit's User Agreement and Content Policy, you must follow and comply with the rules of the platform and the rules of the individual subreddits you participate in. In addition, in connection with your use of Vault and/or any Verified Virtual Good, you represent, warrant, acknowledge, and agree that:
You are acquiring the Verified Virtual Good solely for entertainment purposes and consumptive use in connection with the Services; You are not acquiring the Verified Virtual Good as an investment and will not portray the Verified Virtual Good to others as an investment opportunity; You have no expectation of economic benefit or profit as a holder of the Verified Virtual Good and will not portray the Verified Virtual Good to others as an opportunity to obtain an economic benefit or profit; The Verified Virtual Good is not money or legal tender, does not have a monetary value, is not a cash account or cash equivalent, and is not redeemable for any sum of real world money, monetary value, or for any other goods or services outside of the Services without Reddit’s approval; You will not sell, resell, or distribute the Verified Virtual Good outside of the Services or for fiat or best crypto copy trade platform (abudabi-binary-option.forexbrokereview.com) currency, unless and solely to the extent expressly permitted under these Previews Terms; You will not acquire any equity or other ownership or legal interest in Reddit by virtue of owning the Verified Virtual Good and will not portray the Verified Virtual Goods to others as an opportunity to acquire an interest in Reddit; You will not state or imply that you are endorsed by or affiliated with Reddit in any way, including by using Reddit’s name, trademarks, or logos; You will not use the Verified Virtual Good as a trademark or brand, will not register or attempt to register any trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property rights in the Verified Virtual Good (including any artwork associated with it), and will not use the Verified Virtual Good to market or sell your goods or services or any other third party’s goods or services; You have an adequate understanding of the functionality and characteristics of the Verified Virtual Good and the differences between different types of Verified Virtual Goods (for example, between Collectible Avatars and Community Points); You will not use the Verified Virtual Good, whether within or outside of the Services, for any illegal purpose (including money laundering, where can i copy trade fraud, or any other crime), for any kind of wagering, betting, or gambling, or in connection with any transactions involving goods or services that are prohibited under Reddit’s policy against transactions involving prohibited goods or services; and You will comply with applicable laws, including tax obligations, arising from your acquisition or disposition of the Verified Virtual Good.
Failure to follow and comply with the above rules may constitute a breach of these Previews Terms and result in a temporary or permanent ban from Reddit or certain subreddits or removal of your access to Vault (including Verified Virtual Goods in it). In such instances, you might lose the benefits of Vault or Verified Virtual Goods, and we will not compensate you for this loss.
1.6 Disclaimer; Assumption of Risk.
As noted at the top of these Previews Terms, it is important to remember that Features powered by blockchain technology are new features that may not be supported by Reddit in the future. Except as expressly stated in these Previews Terms, Reddit does not guarantee that Vault, Verified Virtual Goods, or any other Features powered by the blockchain will continually be offered for any particular length of time. Reddit may modify, suspend, or terminate any or all of these Features for any or no reason, in its sole discretion, and without advance notice or liability. Reddit may also modify certain Verified Virtual Goods at its sole discretion, and such modifications may make some or all Verified Virtual Goods more or less common, desirable, effective, or functional.
In connection with your use of Vault and/or any Verified Virtual Good, you acknowledge and assume, and will hold Reddit harmless from liability resulting or arising from, the following risks:
You may lose access to your Vault (including any Verified Virtual Goods in it) if you lose your device or forget your private key, password, and recovery phrase or due to errors or omissions; We do not control public blockchains and cannot guarantee that public blockchains will continue to operate or support your Vault (including any Verified Virtual Goods in it), and we are not responsible for any malfunctions, breakdowns, mining, malware, denial of service, or other attacks by hackers or third parties or for any hard forks of or updates or upgrades to public blockchains; Reddit is not responsible for any transfers of Verified Virtual Good to third-party wallets or for any Verified Virtual Good being held outside of the Services using third-party services, and does not make any promises or guarantees relating to such third parties or their services; Reddit is not responsible for any gifts or gifting of Verified Virtual Goods, and you engage in transactions between you and other users or third parties at your own risk; If you transfer your Verified Virtual Good to a third party, Reddit is not responsible for confirming the identity of the transferee, the reason for the transfer, or the transferee’s satisfaction regarding the Verified Virtual Good; Reddit may restrict, disable, or otherwise change the Services or suspend and/or terminate your Account if we suspect you will use or have used any Verified Virtual Good, whether within or outside of the Services, for crypto trade copy any illegal purpose (including money laundering, fraud, or any other crime), for any kind of wagering, betting, or gambling, or in connection with any transactions involving goods or services that are prohibited under Reddit’s policy against transactions involving prohibited goods or services; Reddit may, at its discretion, impose claim, purchase, or transfer limits on any Verified Virtual Good (for example, your ability to transfer certain Verified Virtual Goods may be limited to Vaults, or to purchase more than certain amounts of Verified Virtual Goods over a specified period); Reddit may modify or elect to discontinue support for Vault, Verified Virtual Goods, or any other Features that are powered by blockchain technology, at its sole discretion, and those modifications may remove or add functionality; Reddit does not guarantee that Vault, Verified Virtual Goods, or any other Features that are powered by blockchain technology will continually be offered or will be available for any particular length of time; When earning, claiming, purchasing, or otherwise using any Verified Virtual Goods, users may not rely upon their continued availability on the Services, and there will be no refunds (including for any Verified Virtual Goods) if relevant Features are no longer usable on the Services; Reddit is not responsible for taxes due as a result of, and tax consequences associated with, any of your transactions in Verified Virtual Goods; and Legal and regulatory actions and changes (including changes in tax laws) may adversely affect Verified Virtual Goods, Vault, public blockchains, and related technologies, as well as their continued availability.
2. Premium and Virtual Goods Features 2.1 Powerups.
Powerups are a subscription membership. When you purchase Powerups, your subscription is subject to the Reddit Premium and Virtual Goods Agreement (including renewal and cancellation terms).
Purchasing or applying Powerups for a subreddit does not provide you with the right to post or comment in that subreddit. Qualifying subreddits must opt-in to enabling Powerups, and participating subreddits are run by moderators and your ability to post or comment, or the removal of a post or comment, is at the discretion of that subreddit’s moderator(s). Moderators also have the ability to opt out of certain perks, including GIFs in comments and custom Emojis. Please also note HD Video is only available if video uploads have been enabled within the subreddit by the moderators. You acknowledge HD Video (720p) availability is further subject to your internet service and device capabilities and the content being uploaded (as not all content uploaded may be formatted for HD). When you purchase or apply Powerups, it is possible the subreddit will not reach the Powerup total necessary to unlock perks for the entire subreddit.
2.2 Free Trial.
Your access to any subscription membership may begin with a free trial. Availability of a free trial is not guaranteed at any time on any platform, and Reddit reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the availability of free trials at any time for any reason. If a free trial is available, it is only available subject to the terms of the free trial to those who have not previously used one for the applicable subscription membership. Your first payment will be charged to the payment method you selected at the time you signed up for your free trial, unless you cancel before the end of your free trial period. You can cancel your subscription any time before the end of your free trial. We provide notice of the terms of the free trial when you sign up and you will not receive additional notice that your trial is about to end, has ended, or that your paid subscription has started.
2.3 Predictions.
Predictions do not offer an opportunity to win real money or prizes. You must be at least 18 years old to use Predictions on r/predictor. Remember, Reddit Coins used in conjunction with Predictions are Reddit’s digital content subject to the Reddit Premium and Virtual Goods Agreement. There will be no refunds if Coins are no longer usable for Predictions.
3. Modification or Discontinuation.
By using Features, you understand that these features may be canceled at any time for any or no reason, in our sole discretion, without advance notice or liability to Reddit. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Features (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice to you. Any future release, update, or other addition to functionality of Features will be subject to these Previews Terms, which may be updated from time to time. You agree that we will not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of Features (in whole or in part). There will be no refunds if Features are no longer usable on or through the Services.
4. Suspension or Termination.
As stated in the User Agreement and our Content Policy, you must follow and comply with the rules for our Services and the rules of the individual subreddits you participate in. Failure to do so may constitute a breach of these Previews Terms and result in a temporary or permanent ban from the Services or certain subreddits or the removal of your posts and comments, including those subreddits where you might have access to Features. In such instances, you might lose the benefits of Features or Verified Virtual Goods, and we will not compensate you for this loss.
If you reside in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to withdraw from the Previews Terms within 14 calendar days without giving reasons. The withdrawal period is 14 calendar days from the date of conclusion of the Previews Terms. To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must submit a request to Reddit.
Please note, however, that when you purchase a license to use certain Verified Virtual Goods (for example, Collectible Avatars), you acknowledge and agree that we provide the Verified Virtual Goods to you promptly once your purchase is complete and the applicable Verified Virtual Goods are credited to your Account and Vault, and therefore your right of withdrawal is lost at this point. Additionally, you acknowledge that by entering into a subscription for a Special Membership, you have expressly requested and consented that your Special Membership commence immediately, at which point your right to withdrawal is lost.
