Vladimir Zolotukhin (born October 12, 1990, Kant, Kirghiz SSR, USSR), better known by his stage name Zoloto – Kazakh musician, rock and pop singer.

Biography

Vladimir Zolotukhin was born on October 12, 1990 in the city of Kant, Kyrgyz SSR, but grew up in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan. He became interested in music in early childhood. At the age of 8 he entered a music school. In parallel with music, he went in for sports, was a member of the Almaty youth hockey team.

In 2009, he began his professional singing career by founding the rock band Cardio Beat and becoming its lead singer.

Since 2010 he has been living in Moscow. He attended the Russian State University for the Humanities.

In 2015, together with the team, he took part in the „Main Stage" project. Later he began a solo career under the pseudonym Zoloto.

In January 2018, he released his debut album, „Don’t worry."

On March 22, 2019, a video for the song „Let’s Stay Here" was released, which was performed in an acoustic version and was included in the future album. In April 2019, an album called „8 Months in Vegas" was released, which included 7 tracks. A video was released for the song „The Streets Are Waiting", the scriptwriter and director of which was Alexandra Chukhnenko. In the same year he took part in the Chess & Jazz festival.

In 2021, he released the song and video „I hate the light", which became part of the tribute album „Keep my speech forever" on the verses of Osip Mandelstam, recorded for the 130th anniversary of the poet.

Reviews and criticism

Reviewing the album „8 Months in Vegas", Boris Barabanov noted that: "Zolotukhin has found a promising formula for pop music for adults: nagging guitar busting, restrained beat, melodic moves reminiscent of the Brothers Grim, Boombox, Leonid Agutin and Sergei Sirotkin at the same time. In one and the same song seemingly incongruous things can catch on ". For example, in the song „Pulls" there are neat strings, an energetic electric guitar and lyrics by Andrey Gubin. And in the next song „Last Snow" – a trumpet in the spirit of Chris Botti and rap _Black Seed Oil". Zolotukhin is interesting in that he does not look like anyone, does not try to please every second and, in general, does not enrage.
