"[Researchers] tested 12 healthy men who were overweight and drank either regular (caffeinated) or decaffeinated coffee, and found that the men who drank the caffeinated coffee burned about 10 percent fewer calories while seated at a computer," Men’s Health reports. "But when the men were on a treadmill, they burned the same number of calories regardless of whether they drank regular or decaffeinated coffee."

The results are worth noting because it suggests that if you’re trying to diet, drinking coffee might not help you to burn more calories. It might actually make it harder to do so.

Another study published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association found that if you want to shed extra pounds, it might be a good idea to try to cut out sugary drinks.

"Researchers suggest that overweight patients suffering from type 2 diabetes may gain weight if they drink sugary beverages — particularly between meals," Men’s Health reports. "Once the calories in those drinks are metabolized, they’re not burned off as energy, and fat is more likely to deposit in the liver and pancreas."

So, to nix this problem, try to limit your intake of sugary drinks and drinks with artificial sweeteners, and replace them with water.
