There are a number of things that we look forward to every holiday season, and while many of them include eating an inordinate amount of snowman-shaped desserts, the thing that seems to stand out the most are new movie releases. Yes, new movies seem to be the thing that makes the holidays seem a little easier to digest, especially when you've had enough of your loved ones.

Over the years, _________ movie studios have started putting out tremendous films of all genres during the holidays because people are out and about more. They're quicker to decide to watch a movie as a break from the shopping, and they're also looking for a reprieve from the hoopla that is the holidays.

This holiday season is no different. Here are five new movie releases you should definitely check out soon:

Dr. Seuss' The Grinch - Just about everyone agrees that the original animated story about The Grinch and his disdain for Christmas is an absolute cultural icon. The holidays wouldn't be the same without it. This new movie decides to take a look into why The Grinch becomes, well, The Grinch. This is an absolute must-see for fans of all things Dr. Seuss.

Mary Poppins Returns - There seems to be a push to revisit the stories of our childhood, and this is no exception. The original film is thought to be a beloved classic, but this latest film decides to wonder what it would be like if Mary Poppins actually came back. Think the story of Peter Pan and the film, Hook or Winnie the Pooh and the film, Christopher Robin.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - This is a highly anticipated animated film looking into the complexity that is the so-called "Spider-Verse". What if there were more than one Spider-Man? The trailers for this movie have lit up the internet, so be ready for sold-out screenings.

Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet - We all go to the internet when we need a replacement part. What if the internet were an actual place you could visit? While the premise is not new, the approach to what this film does is somewhat unique. In many ways, it's more than just a story about video games and surfing the net - it's about what happens when you see the world is bigger than you ever thought.

New movie releases are a lot of fun, and they provide a great break from the standard holiday fanfare we're accustomed to every November and December. It's even nicer when these new movies have nothing to do with the holiday season or take the holiday season & mess with it just enough for a gag.
