Metronomicon Audio is a small record label based in Oslo, Norway. Strictly speaking, it is not really a label, but rather a community with some 20 active members and a wide range of affiliates which together aim to promote new and interesting music.
Nikki Oniyome recently released their debut album 'ai 愛', constituted of ambient and mournful beats, experimenting with new-age elements and psychoacoustics, and their core listeners covered their tears with glitter and gave it a spin.
The second single 'underestimated' of the album immediately got into the playlists of New Music Friday Norway, Natt og Dag, New Nordic Indie and NPS, and Bands of Tomorrow named their album "the "hottest" and "most important releases" of the week.
With a slight nod to the works of Portishead, Björk, Fever Ray, Lamb, and other forms of weird and existential beats, the song based album is colored by unusual sounds and weird ideas, making an alluring backdrop to the distinct female vocal.
Nikki Oniyome is the heart child of songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Lisa Canlinha, producer Jørgen Skjulstad (aka Center of the Universe), and bass player Vebjørn Axelsen. In 2017 they released their first two singles, followed by their debut EP 水 Sui/Mizu in 2018, described by reviewers as «strangely beautiful and strangely twisted» (Your Dead Partner), captivating «with unusual sounds, weird ideas and a successful production» (Global Music Magazine).
The band is part of the music collective Metronomicon Audio, consisting of a wide range of affiliates which together aim to promote new and interesting music, with more than 100 releases, among these a lot of CDR and CD and vinyls, and even more obscure formats such as circuit boards and USB sticks.
